SAN DIEGO, CA (June 3, 2002) – QThink, the leading “pure-play” front-to-back VLSI design firm, today announced that it has successfully completed a 7.25 million-gate SoC chip for a low-power wireless multimedia application. The design included integrating both customer proprietary and third-party commercial IP (22 sub-blocks plus an ARM9™ core) and was successfully taped-out to a commercial 0.13-micron, 6 level metal, single-polysilicon technology. The resulting core-limited die size was 40 mm2. QThink used its Constraint-Driven™ methodology along with commercially available EDA tools to complete this milestone project.

QThink Delivers Milestone 8-Million-Gate Hierarchical Chip Using Constraint-Driven™ Design Approach 12/18/2001
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 18) – QThink, the leading “pure-play” front-to-back VLSI design firm, today announced that it has successfully completed an 8-million-gate digital chip for a fiber-optic networking application. The design included integrating approximately 1.9-million placeable instances and was taped-out to a commercial 0.18-micron, 6 level metal, single-polysilicon technology. The design methodology used included QThink’s Constraint-Driven™ approach to realize the three-levels of design hierarchy, 13 sub-blocks, 14 clock domains, 800 IOs and integration of 1.3Mbits of macrocells. The resulting core-limited die size was 350mm2. QThink used commercially available EDA tools as well as proprietary custom automation scripts and tools to complete this milestone project.

QThink Completes Rolling Blackout Power Backup System for its San Diego Design Center 5/23/2001
QThink has completed a fully tested automated power backup system capable of withstanding California’s impending rolling blackouts. The system allows for complete uninterrupted network and EDA design tool operations to continue for up to six hours when blackouts occur. Power can be extended beyond 6 hours on critical systems, if required, by hot-redistribution of power during outages. California power authorities expect intermittent rolling blackouts to occur through at least the 2001 and 2002 summer months.

QThink announced today that it has contributed to the American Red Cross to assist in providing disaster relief to the communities that have been impacted by the wildfire in San Diego's east county. “QThink is pleased to make this contribution to the Red Cross to support their efforts to provide disaster relief for the communities, families and individuals affected by this unfortunate fire,” said Akbar Shokouhi, President of QThink. The Red Cross will be able to use these financial resources in areas that are most needed. The San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross responded immediately to the east county fire that began on Wednesday, January 3, opening two evacuation shelters as several hundred people fled to safety. The American Red Cross will assist all families displaced and affected by this fire. Assistance includes help in finding temporary housing, providing food, purchasing clothing, replacing furniture and providing referrals to medical care and crisis counseling.
